jcc_new_logoJames City County is accepting applications from neighborhoods and homeowner associations for landscaping and beautification projects.

The James City Clean County Commission is sponsoring the Good Neighbor Environment Matching Grant Program, which requires a 50 percent match from neighborhoods, to award up to $500 per neighborhood for a range of projects.

Applicants can submit a plan under two categories: Physical Improvement/Sustainable Landscaping and Multi-Neighborhood Project Partnerships.

To receive funds under the landscaping and improvements category, neighborhoods should put in native plants or work on minimizing stormwater runoff. Multi-neighborhood projects require participation from at least two neighborhoods, and could include installing a pathway.

Neighborhoods applying for funding should submit applications by 5 p.m. Sept. 1. Applications are accepted via email to dawn.oleksy@jamescitycountyva.gov, or by mailing six copies to James City County General Services Department, Attn: Dawn Oleksy, 5320 Palmer Ln., Suite 2A, Williamsburg, VA 23188.

Grant awards will be announced Sept. 15.

Grant applications and more information are available online.
