In honor of two longtime administrators, Williamsburg Christian Academy has awarded two students scholarships to go toward tuition at the school.

The partial scholarships are for $2,500 each, and went to rising second-grader Naomi Plumley and rising seventh-grader Molly Cupp.

Plumley received the Jane C. Vaught Scholarship, which honors the recently retired Head of Elementary. Cupp’s prize was the Gwendolyn P. Martin Scholarship, established for the Head of School.

“The students have always been the part of WCA that I treasure the most,” Vaught said in a news release. She said she is thrilled for the opportunities the scholarship will provide at the school.

Both awards were established last year by donor funding, and will be given annually to students who demonstrate Christian character, perseverance and academic merit.

The Jane C. Vaught Scholarship goes to an elementary schooler while the Gwendolyn P. Martin Scholarship is for a student at the middle or high school level.

Plumley and Cupp were chosen by a panel of judges, and presented with the scholarships at school awards ceremonies at the end of the 2013-14 year.
