The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority has a new board member representing James City County.
The James City County Board of Supervisors on June 11 appointed the county’s Director of Development Management Allen Murphy to a seat on the WATA Board of Directors.
Murphy earned a master’s degree in urban and regional planning and a master’s in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is certified through the American Institute of Professional Planners.
“We are excited to have Mr. Murphy join the board. His extensive experience in planning, land use, zoning and administration will be of immense value as we work to plan the future of our region’s transit system,” said WATA Executive Director Kevan Danker, in a news release.
Murphy is taking over a seat on the board formerly held by Larry Foster, who retired as manager of the James City Service Authority at the end of 2013.
