A James City County Police Officer sustained minor injuries while trying to subdue a suspect at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center on March 13.

Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department said police were called to a home on the 100 block of Old Colonial Drive after someone there reported 19-year-old Deshawn Marquaze Harris was under the influence of a drug. Harris was then taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.

At the hospital, Harris is accused of kicking one officer in the knee and then kneeing another officer in the groin. During the scuffle, one officer sustained minor injuries to a thumb and elbow.

Harris has been charged with two felony counts of assaulting a police officer.

Man Accused of Stealing Silverware From Kingsmill Home

A 49-year-old man was arrested March 20 after investigators accused him of stealing more than $2,000 worth of silverware from a house on the 100 block of Randolph’s Green.

Rubino said Gary Ray Sugg was performing painting work in the home in April and May. He is accused of taking the silverware on April 12 and May 13. He is then accused of pawning the silverware.

Sugg faces two counts of grand larceny for the alleged thefts. Randolph’s Green is located in Kings Mill off Mounts Bay Road.
