Board of Supervisors Meeting
The James City County Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday and will consider a number of items:
- Establishing a full-time physician position at Olde Towne Medical Center. The position was requested by the center’s executive medical director following support from the Williamsburg Area Medical Assistance Corporation Board of Directors.
- Requesting streets in Monticello Woods Phases 1 and 2 be accepted into the Virginia Department of Transportation’s State Secondary Highway System. If the roads are accepted into the system, VDOT would maintain them instead of the locality or subdivision.
- A budget transfer of $25,000 from the contingency fund to human resources for a consultant hired to assist with the county’s Review of Compensation Practices. At its Nov. 27 meeting, the board agreed to allocate the funding toward hiring the consultant. This also includes awarding a contract to the firm Towers Watson to assist in the review.
- A service agreement between the county and Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority for drop-off recycling services for fiscal year 2014. The services include VPPSA picking up recycled materials from the county’s convenience centers, selling them to vendors and crediting the revenue toward the pickup program costs.
- Authorizing County Administrator Robert Middaugh to enter an agreement with VACORP to handle all Line of Duty Act claims under the VACORP LODA Trust agreement. The county’s current worker’s compensation program is with VACORP.
- An amended and restated contract with the Williamsburg Regional Library. James City County and the City of Williamsburg created the regional library in 1977 and it serves the Williamsburg area. York County has contributed to the library but has not been a part of the contract. The amended contract would include York County and would increase the number of Library Board of Trustees members. Read a previous WYDaily article about York County and the library.
The board will also hold three public hearings:
- The Hampton Roads Sanitation District wants to add a pressure reducing station along Route 199 to reduce sewer spills during inclement weather.
- Williamsburg Landing submitted paperwork to construct one additional assisted living unit within Boatwright Circle to bring the total number of units to 28.
- Robert Jones applied to subdivide an almost 29.7-acre lot at 2981 John Tyler Highway – the property mailing address is 2983 John Tyler Highway — into two parcels.
The board meets in Building F at 101 Mounts Bay Road at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The meetings are broadcast live on JCCTV Cox Cable channel 48 and online. The meetings are rebroadcast in Community channel 46 at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The agenda and meeting materials are available online.
Planning Commission Policy Committee Meeting
The James City County Planning Commission Policy Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday to discuss amendments to the James City County Code regarding subdivisions and zoning.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in Building A at 101 Mounts Bay Road. The agenda is available online; no meeting materials were attached to the agenda by 4 p.m. Friday.
