Original Post: A storm featuring wind gusts of more than 40 mph has knocked out power for more than 5,000 customers in the Historic Triangle.
As of 9:48 p.m., there are 1,216 customers without power in James City County, 4,327 customers without power in York County and 77 customers without power in Williamsburg, according to Dominion Virginia Power’s website.
In James City County, about 700 customers are without power in the area of the Monticello Marketplace Shopping Center. A downed power line in that area has shut down Old News Road near Jesters Lane.
About 200 customers in the Croaker Road area are also in the dark. A downed tree and power line has shut down both directions of the 8900 block of Croaker Road.
The majority of the customers without power in York County are situated in the Lightfoot area.

The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 26 to 29 mph with gusts in the 40s for the Historic Triangle. A total nighttime snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible.
Strong winds are predicted for Sunday, with sustained winds in the 20s and gusts in the 40s.
