Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation will conduct test lifts on the James River Bridge between 1 and 3 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Each lift will last about 20 minutes. While motorists will be affected, maritime traffic will not, according to a VDOT news release. The test lifts are necessary to allow for bridge operators to engage in training exercises.
Once each test lift is complete, the bridge will reopen to allow queued traffic to clear.
VDOT attempts to schedule test lifts during low-volume traffic periods, according to the release.
