A 16-year-old Charles City County boy is facing charges after a Williamsburg West resident said he woke up to the boy in his bedroom.
The man told police he was awoken by a noise at his home on the 100 block of Glasgow at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday. He saw a white male in his bedroom, who fled out the back door into the woods. He was able to give police a description of the boy, said Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department.
Officers in the area found the boy a short time later. They chased him on foot to Williamsburg West Drive, where he was arrested, Rubino said.
The boy was visiting friends in Williamsburg West and Ford’s Colony. Rubino said the boy was intoxicated and uncooperative with police when he was arrested. It is not clear what he was trying to do in the house.
He is believed to have accessed the interior of the house through an unsecured back door.
The boy faces one felony breaking and entering charge, one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of alcohol and one misdemeanor count of drunk in public.
