JCC_Police_carCharges are pending against three 17-year-old boys after they allegedly entered at least two garages in Governor’s Land, resulting in a resident struggling with one of the boys in his garage before chasing him out into the street.

The resident heard an alarm go off at his home on the 2900 block of Nathaniels Run at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, prompting him to go into his garage. There he found two boys in his garage, including one who was rifling through his car, said Maj. Stephen Rubino of the James City County Police Department.

He yelled at the intruders, prompting the one outside the car to flee. The resident struggled with the other boy, striking him with his hand at one point and knocking a hat off his head. That boy then fled, and the resident chased him out into the street where he saw the two boys getting picked up by a car with no headlights on, Rubino said.

Officers from the James City County Police Department who were responding to a call about the boys stopped the vehicle and found the three 17-year-olds inside along with property from the resident’s garage and another garage on the same street. They also found other property, though they have not yet identified where it came from, Rubino said.

Rubino said there is not any indication how the boys gained entry to the garages. He said one of the boys lives in Governor’s Land. Sunglasses, loose change and the hat knocked off the boy’s head were all found inside the stopped vehicle.

The boys are each facing two felony charges of breaking and entering, two felony charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, one felony charge of grand larceny, one misdemeanor charge of property damage and one misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of alcohol. The boy driving the car is also facing a driving under the influence charge.

Nobody was hurt during the incident. All three juveniles were released to their parents.
