James City County is inviting citizens out to provide input on the Comprehensive Plan, the document used to guide future development in the county.
The Community Participation Team – assembled to facilitate public discussion on the Comprehensive Plan – and the county’s planning division are inviting citizens to three workshops to solicit public comment and participation.
Workshops will be held in three areas of the county to attract citizens from those areas:
- Upper JCC Spotlight: 7 to 9 p.m. June 9 at Toano Middle School, 7817 Richmond Road
- Central JCC Spotlight: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 10 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Road
- Lower JCC Spotlight: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 11 at Little Zion Baptist Church, 8625 Pocahontas Trail
Light refreshments will be provided at the sessions, and citizens are encouraged to bring a lunch for themselves to the June 10 workshop.
If citizens cannot attend a workshop, presentations about the Comprehensive Plan may be viewed online and on JCC TV channel 48. Input may be submitted online or by calling the hotline at 757-259-4990.
The Comprehensive Plan is reviewed every five years and is designed to guide growth over the next 20 years. The 2035 review is focusing on economic development, transportation and land use. A final version is planned to be ready for the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors to consider by spring or summer 2015.
