WATAWith two events taking place Saturday in neighboring localities, the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority is running its trolley to cut down on family drive time.

The Williamsburg Arts District Children’s Art & Performance Festival and the New Town Family Fest will be linked by a trolley running every 30 minutes. Children under 12 years old may ride free with an adult, and round-trip fare and all day fare are offered for $1 and $2, respectively.

Families can park their cars in James City County’s New Town, board the trolley at Legacy Hall and ride to the Arts District in Williamsburg.

“We felt that this was a great opportunity to make it effortless for families to attend both events, and especially for kids, riding the trolley is fun in itself,” said Kate Hoving, a spokesperson for the city, in a news release. “Collaborating with both Williamsburg Area Transit Authority and New Town has worked so well, we look forward to more opportunities.”

The Williamsburg Arts District Children’s Art & Performance Festival will be hosted from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at 906 Richmond Road, where it intersects with Matoaka Court.

New Town Family Fest is being held from noon until 4 p.m. in Sullivan Square behind Legacy Hall in New Town.
