A 51-year-old James City County woman died Saturday night after her car rammed into a tree on the 9500 block of Barnes Road.
The James City County Police Department responded to the crash at about 9 p.m. Saturday. The preliminary investigation revealed Bridgette Rogers was driving a 1993 Mazda Protégé north on Barnes Road when she swerved left and then over-corrected, causing her to slide off the roadway and crash into the tree, according to a news release from the county.
Rogers, who was alone in the car, died on impact. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and speed is not believed to have been a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
