The Sears Hometown Store on Richmond Road in James City County celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 28.
Sears Hometown opened in the county last year and provides shoppers access to purchase home appliances, tools, lawn and garden equipment and other items. Area local John Jakob owns the store.
“I am pleased to see the Sears Hometown Store join our community and look forward to many good years of service for our citizens,” said Supervisor Michael Hipple (Powhatan) at the grand opening ceremony.
The Sears Hometown Store concept was developed about 20 years ago; the stores are designed to serve citizens living outside major metropolitan areas. There are currently more than 900 Sears Hometown Stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam.
The James City store is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit Sears Hometown Stores’ website or call 757-645-3044.
