jcc_new_logoAfter a snowstorm caused a James City County Board of Supervisors work session to be postponed, the board is gearing up for a make-up work session that also includes a closed session to review search firms that applied to find the next county administrator.

In January the county sent out a request for search firms to submit applications for consideration in the search and hire process before a Thursday deadline. After the Republicans took the board’s majority in November and fired former county administrator Robert Middaugh, the board was forced to come up with a plan to find a replacement.

With applications in, the board will gather at 4 p.m. Tuesday to review the applicants. The consideration is slated for a closed session because “discussion in an open session would adversely affect the bargaining position or negotiating strategy of the public body,” according to the meeting agenda.

Aside from the closed session discussion, the board will also take up two discussions originally scheduled for a Jan. 28 meeting that was canceled due to snow.

The board will go over the timeline for reviewing the 2009 Comprehensive Plan, which details the direction of county growth and is required to be updated every five years, and the regional hybrid sewer plan.

The board will meeting in Building F at 101 Mounts Bay Road. The non-closed session discussions will be open to the public, and the meeting will also be broadcast live online and on JCC TV 48. The meeting will be rebroadcast at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. every Thursday on Community Channel 46. The full meeting agenda is available online.
