The James City County Board of Supervisors and James City Service Authority will meet Tuesday. The James City County Development Review Committee cancelled its April meeting. JCC Board of Supervisors Meeting
The James City County Board of Supervisors will meet starting with a work session at 4 p.m., followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
At the work session, the board will discuss a proposed county website policy. This work session was scheduled to be the last one for discussion about the proposed fiscal year 2014 budget. The budget is not a topic for discussion on the agenda, but could still be added if the board chooses.
At the meeting, the board will vote to recognize April 21-27 as Volunteer Appreciation Week. It will also vote on allowing archery hunters access to hunt on a 170-acre portion of a county-owned parcel of land at 1204 Jolly Pond Road during the designated archery hunting season.
The board will also vote to adopt the proposed fiscal year 2014 budget.
JCSA Meeting
The James City Service Authority will meet following the Board of Supervisor’s meeting to adopt its fiscal year 2014 budget, which is written into the overall proposed county budget.
JCC DRC Cancels Meeting
The James City County Development Review Committee has canceled its April 24 meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. May 29 in Building A at 101 Mounts Bay Road.

JCC Offers Freeride Bike Clinic
Team Ruckus will conduct a Freeride Bike Clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 and 28 in Freedom Park.
The free clinic will show techniques and skills to ride over logs, carve berms, hit smaller drops and jumps and tackle skinnies.
Registration is required for the clinic by visiting Freedom park or the James City County Recreation Center, online using code #804727-B or by calling 757-259-4200.
A bike, with full suspension recommended, and helmet are required.

JCC Youth Bike Series
A bike series for youth ages 3 to 17 is being offered at Freedom Park. It’s an off-road bike racing series designed to build confidence in riding a dirt course, a .7-mile mountain bike course called the “Bunny Trail” at Freedom Park.
Sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. April 24, May 1 and May 15. Each session costs $10; James City County and Williamsburg residents cost is $5 per session.

Local Youth Complete Neighborhood Learn To Swim Program
More than 20 K-8 youth from the Lafayette Square and Village neighborhoods participated in James City County’s Neighborhood Learn To Swim program over spring break. The program serves qualifying residents ages 5-12 who have limited access to pools.
The program encourages lifelong swimming skills and appreciation. Participants learn basic swimming skills such as floating and treading water, as well as safety skills. At the end of the program, they are tested on progress.

Virginia Native Plant Sale
The John Clayton Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will hold its Virginia Native Plant Sale from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Jamestown Beach Park at 2205 Jamestown Road.
The plant sale will feature native plants, ferns, trees and grasses. Plants needing sun and shade will be available. Butterfly plants and plants for Resource Protection Areas will also be for sale.
The event will be held regardless of the weather. Payment will be accepted in cash or check.
