Sen. John C. Miller (D-1) who represents parts of James City and York counties as well as the entirety of the City of Williamsburg will host a town hall meeting Monday at Williamsburg Regional Library.

Miller wants to use the meeting to determine how constituents feel about issues facing the 2014 General Assembly, according to a news release issued by Miller’s office.

“This session of the General Assembly will deal with several major issues, including the budget, reform of the [Standards of Learning tests], our mental health system and whether to expand health care coverage to many of our neighbors,” Miller said in the release. “This meeting gives constituents the opportunity to tell me how they feel about these and other important issues that impact them and their families. Hearing their views helps guide my decisions in the Senate. I encourage people to attend this town hall meeting.”

The new General Assembly session begins in January. Joining Miller in Richmond this session as representatives of the Historic Triangle are newly elected Del. Monty Mason (D-93), Del. Brenda Pogge (R-96) and Sen. Tommy Norment (R-3).

Miller serves on the senate committees for Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources; Education and Health; and Local Government. He, along with his fellow representatives in Richmond, have been meeting with local government officials in recent weeks to try to hammer out legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

The town hall meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday at Williamsburg Regional Library and is free and open to the public.
