No one was injured during a fire that caused heavy damage to a Toano house Sunday afternoon.
Nineteen firefighters from the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department and the James City County Fire Department responded to the call that came in around 4:40 p.m. Sunday.
Units arrived at the 100 block of Belmont Drive in the Racefield subdivision of James City County nine minutes later to find the house under heavy fire, Billy Apperson with the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department said.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
The home suffered heavy fire, heat and smoke damage and is not habitable, Apperson said. He estimates about $150,000 in property damage.
It is unclear if anyone was in the residence at the time the fire started, but Apperson said there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
