James City Service Authority General Manager Larry Foster will be retiring at the end of the year.
On Wednesday afternoon, Foster announced his intent to retire after Dec. 31. In an email sent to the James City County Board of Supervisors, which serves as JCSA’s Board of Directors, Foster said this year is his 38th year working in Virginia local government. For 24 years, Foster has worked as JCSA’s general manager.
“On January 1, 2014 I will step down beginning a new stage in my life,” Foster wrote. “…my decision comes with much trepidation because for the first time in my life I have no plans on what is next.”
Foster wrote a man he admires greatly told him, “The honor in serving is, when your service is complete, that those served say that you have served well.”
“I truly hope that you and the citizens of James City County say that I ‘have served well,’” Foster wrote. “I have been blessed with this opportunity and express my utmost thanks for your support over the years.”
