This week, a man has been accused of breaking into a James City County home while the family was away, and the former employee of a local spa is accused of stealing more than $200 worth of items.

YPSO Seeks Suspected Coffee Thief
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office posted a photo on its Facebook page Friday asking the public for help in identifying a man who they say walked out of the store without paying for his coffee.
Authorities said the man entered the Wawa on 5824 George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) on Dec. 28 and walked out with a cup of coffee valued at $1.75.
He was seen arriving and leaving on a silver scooter, the post states.

SnoZone Reportedly Broken Into
An 18-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he broke into a York County business.
Investigators with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office discovered Justice Smith got into the SnoZone on Route 17 in September by breaking a window in the rear of the building, Lt Dennis Ivey with the YPSO said.
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, a police report states.
Ivey said Smith turned himself in Jan. 12. He is facing a breaking and entering charge, a grand larceny charge and a credit card theft charge and will appear in York-Poquoson General District Court on Tuesday.
He is also accused of breaking into the Vape Buffet on Route 17 in August and is facing a breaking and entering charge and a grand larceny charge for that incident. Authorities said he stole an undisclosed amount of cash and several vapor cigarettes from the store overnight.
Suspects Sought in Car Break-In Case
A woman reported her purse was stolen from her car overnight around the Penniman Road area in York County.
YPSO posted a release on its Facebook page detailing how the woman’s car was locked but her window was partially open. When she went to her car the morning of Jan. 3, she found her window has been forced down and her purse was missing.
Authorities believe the suspects were driving a green Ford Winstar with tan or gray-colored bumpers and a missing hub cap on the front left tire.

JCC Man Charged with Grand Larceny, Public Intoxication
A man was arrested for stealing more than $200 in groceries from Food Lion, authorities said.
Thomas L. Darden, a 52-year-old James City County man, was stopped by an off-duty James City County Police officer Jan. 17 when the officer saw Darden leaving the store with $270 in unpaid groceries, a police report states.
The officer smelled alcohol on Darden and charged him with public intoxication as well as grand larceny.
Authorities said Darden admitted to having consumed three beers before entering the Richmond Road grocery store.
Police: Man Threatens Ex-girlfriend to Wire Money
Police are investigating after a 46-year-old woman reported her ex-boyfriend was calling her and asking her to wire him money.
“She said he was going to kill her if she didn’t send money,” said Stephanie Williams, a spokesperson for the James City County Police Department.
The 46-year-old woman told police she had not seen her ex since November.
Police would not release the name of the suspect, citing an ongoing investigation. It was unclear how much money the suspect was requesting.
Police Investigating Welfare Fraud Case
The James City County Police Department has received a report that a James City County woman was falsely receiving thousands of dollars in welfare benefits and Medicaid payments.
A police report states the woman, whose name is not being released due to the ongoing investigation, received more than $4,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and more than $3,600 in Medicad overpayments beginning in 2009.
Authorities said the woman failed to report a portion of her household income.
An arrest has not been made at this time.
Arrest Made in James City County Home Burglary
A 24-year-old man is facing felony charges after being accused of stealing more than $3,000 worth of items from a James City County Home.
Aaron Timothy White, who police say worked as a caregiver for the alleged victim’s now-deceased family member, is accused of stealing a radio tuner, false books, stamps, a garage door remote, stainless steel forks, a wedding band set worth $3,000, a vacuum worth $250 and a crock pot worth $300 from a home in the 6800 block of Arthur Hills Drive.
The homeowner reported he was missing the items Jan. 13 after he returned from being out of town, authorities said.
Neighbors told police they saw White driving the family’s car while the family was away, a police report states.
Police said White used a key given to him to enter the home.
White now faces one count of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, driving with a suspended license and vehicle theft.
JCC Spa Reportedly Broken Into
A former employee of a local spa has been accused of stealing items from the business.
Authorities received a report Jan. 14 the EveN Baby Massage in the 300 block of McLaws Circle was broken into over the weekend.
The manager of the spa told police the suspect, whose name is not being release due to the ongoing investigation stole more than $250 worth of items including six packs of blue sheets, six purple headrests, massage oil, massage clay, a collection of essentials oils and personnel documents.
The suspect told the manager via text she took the items because they belonged to her, a police report states.
The manager told police the suspect was fired in November for embezzlement.
An arrest has not been made at this time.
