Thousands of Historic Triangle Residents Without Power Due to Icy Conditions

Update 9:11 p.m.: All homes in the Historic Triangle have regained power.

Update 11:34 a.m.: Dominion Power is reporting 4,494 James City County customers are currently experiencing power outages.

Meanwhile, 622 York County homes and 342 Williamsburg homes are without power.

UPDATE 10:45 a.m.: Hundreds of customers in York County and Williamsburg have regained power, while many homes in James City County near the Croaker Road exit on Interstate 64 are still reporting power outages.

The number of customers without power in York County and Williamsburg have dropped to 337 and 204, respectively, with 610 homes in James City County still without power.

Power has also been restored to the York County government offices.

Original Post: Dominion Virginia Power is reporting power outages across the Historic Triangle today due to icy conditions.

York County has the greatest number of customers without power, including York County government offices, according to a tweet posted at around 8:20 a.m. from York County’s official Twitter page.

Lights are out in several areas in Seaford and Upper York County.

In James City County, the bulk of the outages are reported in the area of the Croaker Road exit on Interstate 64. Williamsburg’s outages are contained in the eastern part of the city.

As of 8:18 a.m., the breakdown of customers without power is as follows:

  • James City County: 617
  • Williamsburg: 664
  • York County: 1,734

In Southeastern Virginia, a total of 4,340 customers have lost power.

Citizens are encouraged to visit dom.com or call 866-DOM-HELP to report a power outage.
