Happy New Year from WY Daily. This week’s notebook features information on an upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting, holiday closure information and some exciting new books that will appear in January and February in York County libraries.
Hang on to those Christmas trees for another week, as pickup will be on the week of Jan. 7. In order to have your tree collected, make sure that it is curbside by 7 a.m. Monday, and someone will pick it up during the week. You may also bring your tree to the VPPSA Compost Facility on Goodwin Neck Road. Call 890-3780 with any questions.
York Supervisors to Elect Chair, Vice Chair at Wednesday Meeting
The York County Board of Supervisors will elect a chairman and vice chairman at their meeting Wednesday. The current chairman is Thomas Shepperd, Jr. and the current vice chairman is Sheila Noll.
The supervisors will also consider a motion to establish the board’s rules of procedure for 2013, which will establish the times, days and location of regular meetings of the board.
The meeting Wednesday is open to the public and will take place at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at York Hall. You can also catch the meeting live on television on Channel 46.
York County Announces New Year’s Closures for Government Offices
With New Year’s Eve today and New Year’s Day tomorrow, a number of county offices and services will not be available until Wednesday.
County Offices, the York-Poquoson Circuit Court, General District and Juvenile & Domestic Courts, York-Poquoson Social Services, the Virginia Cooperative Extension, York County Libraries and the Waste Management Center Administrative Offices will all be closed today and tomorrow.
The Transfer Station and VPPSA Compost Facility will be closed tomorrow.
There will be no curbside garbage or recycling collection tomorrow (Tuesday). Garbage collections normally scheduled for tomorrow will take place on Wednesday, with Wednesday’s scheduled collections on Thursday, with the staggered schedule in effect until Saturday. Recycling for tomorrow was picked up last Saturday.
York Libraries Announce New Popular Adult Fiction Titles for January and February
